About the GST Calculator

Our free GST Calculator helps businesses, traders, and consumers quickly compute Goods and Services Tax (GST) amounts. Whether you need to add GST to an exclusive price or extract the tax component from an inclusive gross amount, this tool handles both calculations instantly across standard tax slabs.

Understanding GST Inclusive vs. Exclusive Calculations

Depending on how pricing is structured, GST calculations follow two main methods:

  • GST Exclusive: Tax is added on top of the net base price.
    Gross Amount = Net Amount × (1 + GST Rate / 100)
  • GST Inclusive: Tax is already embedded inside the quoted total price and needs to be extracted.
    Net Amount = Gross Amount ÷ (1 + GST Rate / 100)

Additionally, intra-state transactions split the total GST equally into CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the difference between CGST, SGST, and IGST?
For intra-state sales (within the same state), the tax is split equally into CGST (goes to the Central Government) and SGST (goes to the State Government). For inter-state sales (across states), IGST (Integrated GST) is charged instead.
How do I extract GST from an inclusive amount?
To extract GST from a tax-inclusive price, divide the total amount by (1 + GST rate percentage). Our calculator performs this automatically when you select the 'Inclusive' toggle.
What are the standard GST tax slabs in India?
The primary tax slabs under the Goods and Services Tax framework are 0% (essential items), 5%, 12%, 18% (standard rate), and 28% (luxury and demerit goods). Special rates like 0.25% apply to rough diamonds and 3% to gold.
